The Evolution Continues in Gaithersburg’s Best Neighborhood

As we head into the spring of 2026, the energy around Downtown Crown has never been higher. When you choose to live at Crown, you are investing in a community that is constantly evolving and improving its master plan.

From massive educational infrastructure to highly anticipated retail openings, here is your insider update on the latest community news shaping our neighborhood.

The Road to 2027: Crown High School Progress

We are officially roughly a year and a half away from the grand opening of the $180 million Crown High School. Construction at the intersection of Fields Road and Omega Drive is moving at a rapid pace.

  • What to Watch: As the exterior framing nears completion, the massive five-story, eco-friendly footprint is truly taking shape. You can now clearly see the scale of the expansive glass facades and the positioning of the community amphitheater.
  • The Real Estate Impact: We are already seeing a shift in buyer psychology. Families are actively trying to secure housing in the neighborhood now before the finalized boundary lines and the August 2027 grand opening drive townhome premiums even higher.

Retail & Restaurant Updates

The walkability of our retail core is the heartbeat of the community. We are closely monitoring the final build-outs for a few highly anticipated additions to the Downtown Crown dining scene.

  • Kitchen Social: The buzz is building for this modern American comfort food concept, expected to bring an incredible new social dining energy to the retail strip.
  • The Crepe Shoppe: A perfect addition to our walkable café culture, providing residents with a sweet and savory stop for morning walks or after-dinner treats.
  • Rio Expansion: Don’t forget, just across the street, the early phases of the Rio Lakefront residential and grocery redevelopment are gaining momentum, expanding our shared lifestyle ecosystem.
